We believe in the same mission about different ways of building people. Sundays are spiritual building; yet there is always more building support to be done on week-days --- and this is the Exegesis part of each and everyone's Christian life. As our Satan and the children of disobedience bombard and surround Christians and non-Christians alike with their world system and "campaigns", our task is not only to neutralize the effects but to continue spreading and building people based on Christian tenets.
Magna Kultura has many projects, mostly directed at the lower socio-eco class of society --- from theater arts, to music, to art sessions. Currently, we are doing a Pinoy sports clinic that we call Larong Pinoy Play Camp --- reviving the traditional Filipino street games --- targeted at kids 3 to 12 years old --- at the same time among parents & grandparents who know the games and are persuaded to pass on to the new generation of Pinoy Kids. Yet more than teaching kids about the Laro, we also instill the values of play and the character building that sports offer.
Our effort to revive the Pinoy Games among children in poor communities has given them the opportunity to be part of something they never experienced of which their parents could not afford to spend for. We know that that it will give them an experience that will stay on in their memories along with their little kababata's. Yet more than giving individual experiences, we know too that after Magna Kultura leaves the area, the playing of the games will continue to delight children daily and, once more, enliven and bring back the fun in communities. Back in the late 80's up to the 90s we spawned all the Milo Summer Sports Clinics. In the 90's we also started the Bear Brand Kite-Flying festivals (which lasted for 15 years till 2006). We perceived that something must be given to the youth --- workshops that build character and wholesome camaraderie. We need healthy and character building workshops that will keep them from being idle (idleness is the devils workshop).
We hope that the Larong Pinoy clinics will not ony revive the games in community but also instill national pride among Filipinos. Personally, I believe that our almighty God is "nationalistic", as perceived in the way He prescribed Israelites to preserved their race and heritage (in Leviticus & Deuteronomy). In a little way, the Larong Pinoy could be a small avenue to start-up kids into loving good things about being a Filipino.
Yes, people can be empowered to build homes, schools, businesses, hospitals and other works of charity --- and doing it in praise of the Lord and those who love Him.
We are like David's mighty men in this age and times. And we know that everything will work together for good.. (a) to them that love God... and, (b) to those called according to His purpose.
God bless you, and more spirit-led power to your ministry, as well as to those who hear the Word in your congregations everywhere.
